What are your thoughts on the outcome of the game, specifically about the five major calls everyone has been talking about?
1) Ben rushing TD - I personally thought it was a touchdown. For about a half second the very tip of the ball appears to cross the front of the goal line, and after that you can't see the tip but the middle of the ball is right behind the goal line so the front was almost certainly over for even longer.
2) D. Jackson offensive pass interference - I don't know why everyone is so up in arms over this. The guy stuck out a stiff arm right in front of the ref in the back of the endzone. He didn't push over the defender, but he put an arm right into his chest that might have hindered him from moving towards the ball. Easy offensive pass interference call by the official.
3) Hasselback low block - Worst call of the day by far. Hasselback doesn't touch anyone else and was clearly trying to tackle, not block, the guy with the ball. The only real gripe the Seahawks have.
4) Incomplete to Stevens - Should have been a fumble. He caught the ball, put one foot down, and another, turned around and was about to put a third foot down when the ball popped out. Should have been a fumble and Steelers' ball. Refs need to let the damn plays pan out, as they've been told a million times.
5) Holding call (the one on the right side of the O-line everyone is talking about) - Touchy call, but almost every holding call is borderline. The offensive lineman put his arm around the other guy's neck for a split second, and even if it wasn't intentional (which it probably wasn't), it's still holding.
So really you only have one clear call going against the Seahawks and another clear call going against the Steelers. Everything else was really close and personally I felt was made correctly. I can't believe all these Seahawks fans and even Mike Holmgren are whining when they literally had EVERY single call and EVERY single bounce go their way throughout the whole season. Guess what, guys? The refs didn't make you give up a 75 yard TD run, and they didn't make you give up a 43 yard TD pass, and they didn't make Stevens drop just as many (if not more) passes than he actually caught, and they didn't make the team use TERRIBLE clock management at the end of the half and the game...the better team won, shut up about it already.
